The Promise of Abundant Life
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
When it comes to life, we have a choice. We can get in on all that God has for us; or we can choose to turn away from it. But when we turn from God, the only option is what the Bible here refers to as the thief. And he only comes to steal, kill and destroy any hope of the abundant life that Jesus promised. Another way to put it is that Satan deals in counterfeit currency—currency that neither satisfies nor sustains us.
The promise of abundant life, though, is a picture of blessing beyond our wildest dreams. Jesus’ plan for our lives is abundance—in every realm we can conceive. The Bible promises that He can do “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” for each of us.
Are you getting the most out of life? Or are you accepting the counterfeit currency that Satan is trying to give you?
Ask God to protect you from Satan’s lies so that you can walk freely through the door (Jesus) that is open to you. Do not be deceived into believing that you can wait for a more convenient time…because now is your time.
To begin to experience the abundant life, commit to reading God’s Word daily, to praying regularly and to connecting with other like-minded believers in the local church. Find other believers that you can trust and talk about the steps you are taking.
