The Presence of the Lord

Description

God is always with us, no matter where we are. We are never removed from His presence.

… the name of the city from that day shall be, "The LORD is there." Ezekiel 48:35

Ezekiel’s theme is “The Lord is there.” The prophet’s immediate audience was Jews in Babylonian exile. The Temple symbolizing God’s nearness was far away, in Jerusalem. Babylon seemed remote from God. But the Holy Spirit’s message to people in exile is that they are not removed from God’s presence. Ezekiel himself experienced God’s presence in visions. He becomes a reporter. God’s call on His people today is to report to all sharing the land of exile with them that they have met God in this strange place, and that He is as much God in Babylon as in Jerusalem.
