The Power of Correction

The power of God's Word pierces our mind and our soul. We are His children and He knows what's best for us—even correction and discipline.

Have you ever not wanted to enter the Secret Place?

Have you ever not wanted to go behind those closed doors to meet Him?

Have you ever felt it was time for His correction?

I have.

I have heard Him say to me, "What have you done?"

I will be honest with you. I don't like to go there, but I have to. I don't like to meet Him when I've done something I shouldn't have. Things aren't right. What question does He ever ask that he doesn't already have the answer to?

Correction - swift, sure and loving.

No one knows me better that Him. No one knows my heart. He corrects me from truth, not supposition. He never misses the mark. The light of His love shines on the problem revealing it for what it is. He doesn't hide what so easily separates us. He deals with it and deals with it now.

Recently, I had to go there to that place of discipline. I had to hear these words of correction:

"You have not acknowledged Me in...

I correct you because I love you.

Trust Me.

You do not have a healthy fear of who I am.

I love you, that is why I correct you.

Listen and you will learn from Me.

Move according to My will and you will be rewarded.

Trust Me."

I tried to avoid Him, but I couldn't. He was disappointed with me and I knew it. The power of His Word pierced my mind and soul. When I finally stopped fighting my "self" He lifted up my yielded heart and showed me the truth. I am His daughter and He knows what's best for me, even correction and discipline.

I was going down a path He hadn't prepared for me.

I was doing something not right in His eyes.

I was wrong.

He came to correct me.

In His correction I found the right way.

On the other side of correction - on the other side of my pain and tears - I found peace, rest and comfort.

I found Him.

He corrected me for my good will.

He changed me for His good purposes.

I am unworthy of such love.

Without Him I would fall.

Without Him I am nothing.

Even in His disappointment He loves me.

I know the truth.

It is His grasp on me that makes me secure, not my slippery hands in His.

In the end, I thank Him.

In the end I open my arms and He receives me.

In the Secret Place He has found me.

Behind closed doors He has shown me His everlasting love.

In the end it is well with my soul, yes, it is well with my soul.

He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command is rewarded. The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death. Proverbs 13:13-14

There is a way that seems right to a man, but leads to death. Proverbs 14:12

He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored. Proverbs 13:18

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe...The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out. Proverbs 18: 10, 15

But be careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to obey His commands, to hold fast to Him and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul. Joshua 22:5
