The Perfect Word
Psalm 19:7-8 (NIV®)
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
I want to be known as an advocate for God’s Word, don’t you? No other book ever has been or ever will be written that will add as much to our lives. It is “perfect,” “trustworthy,” “right,” and “radiant.” There are some simple things you can do to show people that you think the Bible is important. You don’t have to climb on a soapbox and start waving it around. Just take it with you and don’t say a word about it. Walk into a restaurant and lay it on the table. Leave it on your desk at work. Put one in your car. When someone comments on it—and they will—just say, “The Bible is important to me. There are some things about it I don’t understand, but I’m working on it with God’s help.”
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. Thank You that it is true and trustworthy for all people for all time. Give me a greater understanding of it, Lord, that I may walk closer to You every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
