The Peace of Jerusalem

Description

In the midst of hostility, God works out peace for His holy city.

Zechariah 12:1-3 (NIV®)

This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel . . . “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.”

We see this statement by God played out on the news every night—Jerusalem and Judah, the region that surrounds it, are literally encircled by hostility. Don’t cringe when you see this happening. God is doing that. And if He creates the contention, He can protect His city and work out His purposes. What God said is coming to pass, and that adds credibility to the other things that He said.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You that Your every word is true. Thank You for the confidence we can have in Your plan for the world. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I long for the day when Your purposes will be accomplished there and in the Middle East and in all the earth. May the name of Jesus be lifted up. In His name I pray, amen.
