The Night As the Day
Description
John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
I experienced this love firsthand one night on a dark and possibly dangerous road.
In the 1990s I worked for a reputable telemarketing firm in Virginia Beach, VA. At one point my car broke down for good. I had to walk an hour and forty-five minutes one way to be at work by 4 p.m., then reverse the walk at 11:30 p.m. to go home.
One night as I walked home I happened upon Interstate 64, which was under construction. The place was a mess with all the rubbish and work materials gathered under the overpass. As I entered this section I said to myself, “Wanda, shouldn’t you be afraid?” Immediately God spoke to me and said: “The night is as the day to the Lord!” So upon hearing His Voice I said, “Okay, I won’t be afraid.” And I continued on home.
After this incident, imagine my surprise one day when I came across Psalm 139:12 (KJV): “Yea, the darkness hideth not from Thee but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to Thee."
