The Lord Judges from Within

Description

Often, the people in pain appear to be fine. But the truth is that everyone you meet is in need of the comforting power of Jesus Christ.

"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

Think

From the outside looking in, most of the people we encounter appear to be doing well. When asked, “How are you doing”, we reflexively respond with positive words and affirming statements. Even in our darkest moments, on the outside we present ourselves in an entirely different fashion.

In reality, many of us live with the dichotomy of two extremes-the person we present to others and the pain and struggle we live with. As we reflect on the lessons of Pain Management, it is critical to understand that God is not concerned with external appearances, but with internal matters such as your heart and your relationship with Him. When you experience pain, you don’t need to put on a façade with God. He knows what you are struggling with, and He cares. Instead, be open with Him, and use that pain to draw closer to Him and strengthen your relationship with Christ.

Pray

Today, pray that any pain you experience is something that draws you closer to Christ.

Act

This week, as you invite others to church, remember to encourage them, even if they appear to be doing well. Often, the people in pain appear to be fine. But the truth is that everyone you meet is in need of the comforting power of Jesus Christ.
