Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because ‘God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble’ (1 Peter 5:5).
Technology has a way of uncovering a hidden issue in each of us. No matter how hard we try to mask it, the issue of pride shows itself in unexpected ways. A picture, status update, or even those we follow could be clues to being unintentionally drawn into the lure of the prideful use of technology. As with most things, awareness of this potential issue is key to correcting it. How do we correct it though?
If we honestly examine our true intentions when it comes to technology, we would probably notice a pattern—Informer vs. “ME-former.” Take a look at the information you are sending and receiving. Does it reflect a life that is all about “ME, ME, ME or a life that is informing others of the truly important things of life? Imagine what a difference we could make if we use technology to remind others how much God loves them and inform them of how they can know more about that. We could turn technology upside down with informants sharing God’s love.
Ask God to help you become an informant for Him instead a “ME-formant” for yourself.
Use technology to inform others of how they can learn more about God’s love for them!
