The Image of the Invisible God

Description

When we don't have an accurate description of God, it's hard to see Him in our lives. Spend time in prayer and in His word, and you will get a good idea of what to look for.

Colossians 1:15-20 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

I used to think it would be cool to be invisible.  Think of all the possibilities… it still seems like it might be a good idea at times, but being seen is probably a better option overall; especially while crossing a street.

So God sent His Son; the image of the invisible God to give a human face and hair and arms to the Creator of all things whom people had sought after for so long. But here’s the question, why didn’t everybody who saw Him recognize Him? It must be they were working from a faulty description; what they thought He would look like He really didn’t.

Maybe that’s our problem when we don’t see God in things sometimes - we don’t have an accurate description. Read the Bible, pray, and you will get a good idea of what to look for.
