The Future Is Jesus
Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10).
Revelation 19 is an incredible chapter in the Bible describing the victory of God over His enemies: the antichrist, the false prophet, the devil, and the false Babylon. It describes the rejoicing of heaven and those in heaven. Finally, the wondrous event of the marriage feast of the Lamb is announced. The children of God celebrate in perfect righteousness and participate in the joys of heaven.
The celebration concerned Jesus Christ and those who are his bride, the body of Christ. The angelic messenger who is John’s guide throughout this tour of heaven told John to write these things down. John the Apostle was overwhelmed and knelt down to worship the angel who was telling him these things. The angel told him not to do that but to realize the angel was a fellow servant of God like he was. John's worship should be directed to God.
In explaining the overwhelming power of these prophecies, the angel said the witness of Christ is the spirit of prophecy. All the wonderful promises of God concerning the future are intimately tied to Jesus Christ. God's future is Christ. All prophecy leads to him and is about him.
