The Finger of God

Description

Satan will taunt, tempt, and torture our soul, but there is One who will help us stand. With one touch of His finger – Satan is done.

Focus Scripture: Luke 11:14-23

Now he was casting out a demon that was mute.
When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke,
and the people marveled. 15 But some of them said,
“He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons,”
16 while others, to test him, kept seeking from him
a sign from heaven. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts,
said to them,”Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste,
and a divided household falls. 18 And if Satan also is divided against
himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out
demons by Beelzebul. 19 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul,
by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your
judges. 20 But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons,
then the kingdom of God has come upon you.  21 When a strong man,
fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe; 22 but
when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him,
he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoil.
23 Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does
not gather with me scatters.

Jesus is the Master of All.
He came to demonstrate His power over the evil one,
and to literally destroy all his vengeful works.
Jesus, our Savior, came to rescue us,
to deliver us from the clutches of an evil foe,
the death-breathing dragon, Beelzebul.
Today, tonight, tomorrow,
we never know when we will be attacked by
a bully of Beelzebul.
He will taunt, tempt, and torture our soul,
but there is One who will help us stand.
With one touch of His finger – Satan is done.
Jesus, our Covenant Lord, will fight on our behalf.
In the heat of battle, when the enemy is screaming lies
and hurling insults and your lips are mute,
by faith, put on His armor and speak!
Wield the weapons of truth He has given:
the helmet of salvation, the sword of the spirit – the Word of God,
the shield of faith, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness,
and the Gospel of peace.

“Christian, it may be that the archers have sorely grieved you,
and shot at you, and wounded you, but still your bow
abides in strength; be sure, then,
to ascribe all the glory to … God.”

–Charles Spurgeon

All strength, power, and victory are His.
He is Master of All.

Psalm 28:6-9

6 Blessed be the LORD!
For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
7 The LORD is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.
8 The LORD is the strength of his people;
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 Oh, save your people and bless your heritage!
Be their shepherd and carry them forever.
