The Father’s Devastating Love
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1
He is in all the littlest details, isn’t He? We see Him in the earthquakes, and we see Him in the dimples of her smile, the red ribbons to match her red skirt. He is here with us, in the big and the small. He whispers hope over me, over you, and over those we love, time and time again.
Can you hear Him?
Is there a more devastating love than the love we feel for our children? Consider the way a parent loves: the candles on birthday cakes, the careful folding of load after load of dirt-stained play clothes, every phonics lesson, working in the fields or at the office to feed mouths and provide shelter, bottles in the early hours of the breaking dawn, hospital visits, the laying down of rules because we want God’s best for them, trips to the grocery store for morning toast, and the countless hours and hours we hunch over their beds, praying desperate prayers for healing, restoration and wisdom. Surely the love the Father feels toward each one of us is even more devastating than all of this. Do you feel it? Do you know it?
