The Divine Son - The Rapture
One of the interesting things about God is that he seems to like surprises. One of his greatest surprises will be the time of the return of Christ to take his church to heaven. The Old Testament spoke of a resurrection of the dead from the grave. But something new was added in the New Testament, which we call the rapture—which is simply a Latin word for being seized up or being caught up. This is a truth that Jesus revealed to the apostle Paul. Paul described this truth in First Thessalonians 4.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Th 4:14-18)
This is a great comfort and encouragement that we should dwell on often.
