This month we are looking at the person and work of Christ. Jesus has done many, many things for us. He has given us a wonderful status before God. In the ancient world what you wore determined your status. In Greco-Roman law, how you could dress was a matter of legality. Each class dressed in a different way and that immediately communicated their status. In Christ, our status is on the level of Jesus Christ, because we are clothed in him. In the ancient world, they would not have thought of the attractiveness of the clothing, but what status the clothing communicated.

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Gal 3:26-27)

Notice that we are sons of God and the reason for that is we are clothed in Christ. That clothing in Christ determined our status as sons of God. That means God treats us the way he treats his own Son, and there is no better way of being treated than that.
