The Divine Son - Predestined

00:00

Description

The purpose of Christianity is that God the Father should have many more sons and daughters like Christ, and that Christ should have many brethren.

Our talks this month are all about Jesus Christ the second person of the Trinity. Jesus as the Son of God answers the question what is the purpose of everything. Believers should have a ready and prepared answer as to what is the purpose of Christianity. The purpose of Christianity is that God the Father should have many more sons and daughters like Christ, and that Christ should have many brethren.

In love, He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us (Eph 1:5-8).

Notice that verse five says we have been destined to be adopted as sons through the instrumentality of Jesus Christ to God himself. This is something that God really wants. It's in harmony with the kind intention of his settled desires. Because he wants sons and daughters, it is necessary that he should lavishly forgive us. If he did not lavishly forgive us, he could not lavishly love us.
