We have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness which is controlled by Satan to the kingdom of the Son. Those who have not accepted the gospel are citizens of a dark and oppressive world, but those who have trusted in Christ are in the kingdom of love and light.

For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation (Col 1:13-15).

In this new kingdom, we have been rescued by the kinsman redeemer who has granted us forgiveness of sins. On the one hand, he is the express image of God and on the other hand, he is the head of creation. We are under the protection of our King who also is our brother, and our purpose is to serve this King and participate in the family business of rescuing others.
