Sometimes Christians have a conscience that tells them they must do certain religious acts to be acceptable before God.

This month's talks are about Jesus Christ. He is presented in Scripture as a propitiation, a redemption, and a reconciliation. As a propitiation, he gave his life as represented in his life's blood, so that we are free of religious works as the basis of our relationship to God. With the result we can freely serve our Savior. Sometimes Christians have a conscience that tells them they must do certain religious acts to be acceptable before God. But Hebrews 9 tells us that the blood of Christ, or the infinite value of his death, should cleanse our conscience from that type of attitude.

For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Heb 9:13-14)

Notice how in verse 14 each member of the Trinity is involved with propitiation. Christ was offered through the Holy Spirit to God the Father as our propitiation. Each member of the Trinity contributed to it, so our conscience must be satisfied with Christ’s blood. Don't rely on your religious activity rely on Christ.
