The Deep End
I TRULY BELIEVE I WILL LIVE TO SEE THE LORD’S GOODNESS. 14 WAIT FOR THE LORD’S HELP. BE STRONG AND BRAVE, AND WAIT FOR THE LORD’S HELP. — PSALM 27:13-14
A woman is often caught off guard when grief crashes upon her with the loss of a deeply loved one. In those times, she can look to God, her major consolation, her refuge, her true and steady rock. For His Word has an amazing power to reach out, to heal, to catch her heart—and breath.
The words of Psalm 27:13-14 contain such power. They are an amazing balm to help heal a woman's heart torn by loss. For her, they serve as a reminder that good times will one day come again. That God is working in this life, on this earth, among these people. That the pain will subside, and then God can begin the healing.
Her part? To not give in to despair. To remain strong and brave. That doesn't mean not shedding a tear, for there will be plenty. But to know, deep down, where deep calls to deep, that she is not alone. That Jesus, sitting right beside her, is also weeping. And that one day, she and her loved one will both rise again. That one day, she will bear a lighter heart and the beginning of a smile.
Thank You, dear God, for comforting me when the hurt is so deep, and healing me when I am ready. Help me to memorize these verses so that I can call upon them in a moment of need.
