The Debate Is Over
No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are (Acts 15:11).
Jerusalem was the site of the first Christian debate.
The believers from the party of the Pharisees argued that the Gentile converts must be circumcised and follow the laws of Moses.
Paul and Barnabas argued that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus for both Jew and Gentile.
Peter took a firm stand — “No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are” (Acts 15:11).
This wasn’t opinion. He witnessed God’s saving grace for the Jew, the Gentile and the Samaritan.
His words should have ended the debate forever.
Unfortunately, there are still people today arguing that “by grace through faith in Jesus” is not enough. And they are pushing their own set of “must do” requirements.
But don’t listen. The debate has been settled.
You have been saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Nothing could be better than that!
You are saved by grace, through faith, in Christ. And anyone else who is saved comes to Christ the same way. There are not different paths or requirements for different people groups.
Stand firm in truth and don’t listen to contrary opinion. The path to salvation is the same for everyone.
