Thank God It's Friday!

Description

Knowing Jesus, being filled with the Spirit, and singing songs to God from our heart is the best way to get “drunk” these days!

Don't drink too much wine. That cheapens your life. Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of him. Sing hymns instead of drinking songs! Sing songs from your heart to Christ. Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song to God the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:18-20, Message

Ok, fine...it’s not Friday, but the concept is still true on a Tuesday morning! I remember the days - before Christ - of drinking too much, being obnoxious, giddy, uninhibited and hung over. How about you?

Back-in-the-day, there was a reason we said, “Thank God it’s Friday!” We were so tired, frustrated and bored with life as usual, we needed an escape. When I got “under the influence” of alcohol, I had a big party and forgot about all my problems…until the next morning. Then reality came crashing back along with a headache.

Being drunk with alcohol is the counterfeit! There is a real McCoy – being drunk in the Spirit! Knowing Jesus, being filled with the Spirit and singing songs to God from our heart is the best way to get “drunk” these days.

I have found that when I sing from my heart to the Lord, there is a genuine freedom and sense of satisfaction that words can barely explain. Being “under the influence” of the Spirit and intoxicated with the joy of His Presence is the real deal. The best part? God’s hangover is a life of peace!

Need to get intoxicated? Sing a song. Really! Sing from your heart to the Lord, right now! Make a melody and just sing whatever words, phrases or praises seem pleasant. You will be amazed at the refreshing power of a Spirit-filled song.

Say This:
“Father, okay…here we go…I am going to sing right now. I need to be “under Your influence” today so, I’m going to take a moment to sing a song from my heart to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.” (Okay…start singing!)

When you sing from your heart to the Lord, there is genuine freedom and a sense of satisfaction that words can't explain!
