Take God at His Word
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance…. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them—HEBREWS 11:13, 16.
Have you taken God at His Word, but He hasn’t come through for you?
Have you poured out your heart to God about your spouse who’s ill but doesn’t seem to get better? A rebellious child who still refuses to obey? A boss whose demands have become even more unreasonable?
Is this situation creating an opening for doubt about your beliefs? When a father brought his troubled son to Jesus, he said, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24). Sometimes we need help to trust God completely. If you’re still waiting for God to fulfill His promise to you, if you’re beginning to doubt He’ll really answer, ask Him to give you another promise from His Word to confirm the original one.
Like the people of Hebrews 11 who have gone before us, we need to just take Him at His Word. Believe it! Believe Him!
