Supporting the Ministry as an Act of Worship
There are five activities that are described as spiritual sacrifices or activities of New Testament priests in the Bible. Paul mentioned one of those sacrifices.
18 But I have received everything in full, and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
19 And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:18-19)
Paul informed the Philippian church that their financial support of him was a spiritual sacrifice which was a fragrant aroma to God. So to our growing list of what is a spiritual sacrifice, we can add supporting the ministry. We have seen that using a spiritual gift is a spiritual sacrifice now we see that supporting the pastors, evangelists, missionaries, and church workers are also a spiritual sacrifice. So that when a collection is taken the church the money gives is actually viewed as a sacrifice by the congregation to God.
