1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV®)
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
The word for temptation here can also be translated “trial.” Trials and temptations come to all of us. None of us escape—everyone’s lives are filled with difficulties, and sometimes they feel like they are almost more than we can bear. This promise, that His strength is sufficient to enable us to endure anything that comes to our lives, is amazing. But believing it will not be the majority response. If you survey everybody in your sphere of influence, probably not all of them will pat you on the back and say, “I agree. God will provide a way.” But God’s Word says He will provide a way, and you and I have to decide what we will believe. Belief in God’s power is a minority response, but it is the right one.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness to every generation. I believe in the power of Your strength to help me. If there is any doubt in me, I ask for a new portion of belief. I trust Your Word is true and trust You to provide all I need to endure. In Jesus’ powerful name, amen.
