Success Is Sweet!

Two-year-old Rifqi stands in front of his parents’ donut cart in northern Indonesia. His parents started the family-owned bakery after the 2004 tsunami when powerful waves destroyed everything they owned.

To help the family get back on their feet, World Vision provided Rifqi’s father with training on bread and cookie making, and then provided him with baking equipment to start his own business.

Their donuts are a local favorite, with customers stopping on their motorbikes to buy a dozen from this road-side stall. Economically, life is better now after the tsunami than before, Rifqi’s father says.

After the tsunami, World Vision provided income generation training to 40,000 people in four countries.
