Strength of Yielding

Submission to God takes all the strength you have; doing your own will is easy.

John 6:38 (NIV®)

“For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.”

People who think that those who are yielded to God, who serve Him, are people who are too weak-willed or simple-minded to do anything else don’t understand what it means to follow the Lord. Jesus admitted that He had left the glories of heaven not to accomplish His own purposes, but the purposes of His Father. It isn’t that He was a pushover; He had chosen to yield His will to the purposes of God. Don’t imagine that yielding your will to God will make you a weak person. It will take all the strength and courage you have.

Heavenly Father, I offer myself as a living sacrifice and yield my will to You again today. Give me humility to seek You and Your purposes rather than go my own way. Give me understanding of Your will for me and how to fulfill it. Not my will but Yours, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
