Streams in the Desert
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV®)
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
In the Bible the desert is a place where God gets people’s attention. Yes, it’s a place of isolation and danger and minimal resources. But it’s also a place where God’s people experience His deliverance, His provision, His revelation, His renewal, and His preparation for a new season. Sometimes there are desert seasons of our lives too. In fact, He may have led us there so that we can see Him more clearly. If you feel like you’re walking through a desert and cannot see relief ahead, I want you to know that the Spirit of God is with you. Let’s “not dwell on the past,” but watch for the “new thing” He wants to do in our lives. “Can you see it?” He asks. “I am making a way!”
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of Your presence and provision for me. Thank You that You are watching over my life even when I am not able to see You at work. Give me faith to watch and wait for You when You are preparing me for a new thing, because I always want to be in the center of Your plans and purposes for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
