Stop and Think

Description

The next time you feel the pull of temptation, stop and think about the possible results.

Romans 6:23 (NIV®)

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Temptation is an invitation to something that entices you, especially something that leads to sin. The consequence for sin is destruction, while the “gift of God is eternal life.” This isn’t an issue just for the ungodly; temptation stalks all of us. So the next time you feel the pull of temptation, stop and think about the possible results. Could you lose your family? Your reputation? Your job? Your health? I believe in the grace and the mercy of God, because that’s how we got into His Kingdom. But it’s equally true that God is a just and holy God. The Bible says God will not be mocked, that we will reap what we sow: death or eternal life. Let’s live with that awareness. Let’s reject the temptation and accept the gift.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, give me the wisdom and courage and awareness to say no to ungodliness and receive the gifts You have for me. Give me clarity of thought so that I will see the end before I take the first steps. Lead me not into temptation, Lord, but deliver me from evil, that Your purposes might be worked out for the glory of Your Son, Jesus. I ask it in His name, amen.
