More often than not, God wants us to stay in our friendships through conflict and struggle. Be like Him, the one who never leaves.

Have you ever felt like you failed as a friend?

My friend Amy was telling me about a time she really regrets not sticking by a friend during some of her darkest days. She said she didn't understand some of the choices her friend was making, and struggled with the consequences of what her friend wanted to do. So Amy left. Well she didn't actually go anywhere physically, but she withdrew.

That was years ago and although Amy has made attempts to reach out and reconcile, her friend is understandably cautious and guarded. Amy told me she’s trying to use the regrets of her decision to help her get better at staying.

Staying through conflict. Staying through struggles. Staying through misunderstanding. Not because it’s not hard but because she’s learning to depend on strength from the One who never leaves.

You now, in some situations God does ask us to leave but more often than not, He wants us to stay
