Stand Up and Step Out

Christ has set us free to live a free life and to be an anomaly.

“Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand!” Galatians 5:1, The Message

OK, it’s time to bust out and be free – be a Christian anomaly! An anomaly is a deviation from the norm...a person who is unusual, different - not easily classified! That means…not Christianity as usual. Not a carbon copy. Not a cookie-cutter. Is your Christian life like that? Or is your life pretty predictable? Normal? Boring? Are you willing to stand up and step out?

I don’t recommend being rude, stupid or doing things that displease the Lord…but maybe today you need to break free from your comfort zone! From the fear of man! From boredom! What does “free to be an anomaly” look like for you? Time is ticking…get going!

I’m thinkin’ it’s time to take a stand. Color outside the lines. Go against the grain. Do something out of the box. Shout. Run around your desk. Laugh until you snort. Forget proper English, punctuation and grammatical rules. Don’t worry bout nuthin'. I know…it’s misspelled. So, whatcha gonna do?

Wanna do something significant with your life? Quit running from God? Preach the gospel? Help disaster-stricken people? Wanna do something fun and different? Learn how to play the drums? Raft down the Colorado? Hike around Europe? Wanna love people? Hug your kids until their eyes roll back into their head? Kiss your spouse ten times? Pay for the car behind you at Starbucks? Wanna do something you thought it was too late to do? Go back to college or Bible school? Become a lawyer? Make a film? Write a book? Wanna go to another level? Share your faith? Laugh at your enemies? Roll your windows down, sing praises loud and off key? So…do it, quit worrying about perfection…rock on…live…be free!
Yupper…I’m taking my own advice. In writing these Daily Basics Devos, I have decided the most important thing is the heart of the message the Lord wants to convey for a given day; so…if I happen to invent words, miss typos, write run on sentences and fragments, or if I am redundant, random and use the wrong punctuation?; Get over it…over it…and over it…. Listen between the lines to see if the Lord has a message of encouragement for you anyway!
Christ has set us free to live a free life…today, be an anamolly, onomoly…or an anomaly!

Say This: “Father, today, I choose to live a free life! Free to serve You and to be myself. I want to be an anomaly! Help me to break free from fear and pride to experience a greater degree of freedom in Christ! I declare, I am free in Jesus' Name…and the only opinion that counts is Yours! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
