Job 2:7-8 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.
Of all of the things we can lose as physical beings, our health is the one thing that cannot be replaced. A word such as “cancer” completely reshapes what is most important; what we think about, what we pray for, what we focus on.
Feeling ourselves changing from the young, healthy, strong person we were to an older more delicate version of ourselves also brings a clarity of focus that can help eliminate the things that we worry about that really aren’t that important. Try and take that same laser focus we may provide on our physical health to our spiritual health; what is most important, what needs to be eliminated, what should we pray for?
