Spirit and the Flesh
What gets a person into Christianity is what keeps a person living a vibrant Christian life and that is faith. Christianity works on one consistent principle. That principle is the power of the Holy Spirit within as we walk by faith. The Spirit of God produces a set of characteristics like love, joy and peace, and those characteristics should lead to a thriving Christian life. Paul wrote:
3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?—(Gal 3:3).
Having begun by a life-changing experience where character is changed within, Paul asked the Galatians were they presently being brought to completion and maturity by the flesh. He basically was asking how is that working for you right now. Do you have the same life-changing experiences by being preoccupied with rules that fleshly effort can keep? Is your present experience similar to your conversion experience, a profound and deep change within. Their answer should be no and that should lead them to embrace the life of the Spirit again as it should lead us to do too. The Spirit is waiting to help us right now.
