Galatians 6:7-8 (NIV®)
A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Sin looks good in the short run, but it is deceptive. It can never deliver what it promises and always leaves us dissatisfied and unfulfilled. Every time you and I make a choice toward godliness or ungodliness, we sow a seed. Your life and mine are surrounded by harvest fields that we have planted, and some of us are desperately praying for crop failure. Let’s say no to ungodliness and make decisions that will “please the Spirit” so that we can anticipate a harvest that we are excited about both in time and for eternity.
Heavenly Father, thank you that Your Spirit is present among Your people to make Your wisdom known to us. Today I choose to cooperate with Him as never before, to say yes to godliness and no to ungodliness. We live in a world that desperately needs to see Jesus, and today I choose to glorify Him with my words, my actions, and my resources. Father, we thank You for the harvest You have promised. It’s in Jesus’ name that I pray, amen.
