Smack Dab in the Center of God's Will

Description

Are you smack dab in the center of God’s will or are you at a crossroad in need of direction? Do you know the next steps to take?

But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God'" (Matthew 4:4, NKJV).

How can we be sure we are living smack dab in the center of God’s will? Is it possible? Yes, it is! Jesus told us how to do it. He said that we do not live by physical bread, but we live by every word that proceeds from God’s mouth. Let’s break this down a bit:

Man Shall Not Live By Bread Alone: According to Strong’s Concordance, the idea of living is to enjoy real life, to have true life, to be full of vigor, to be fresh and strong. It denotes the idea of an active, blessed life. Although physical food is necessary to sustain life, it’s not enough to give us true life. We can eat all day long and still not enjoy real life. If our hearts and minds are in unrest, dissatisfied or in turmoil we are not enjoying real life. Jesus wants us to live!

But By Every Word That Proceeds From the Mouth of God: We are to live the true life, the real life, by words that proceed from God’s mouth. The word “word” is the Greek word rhema and it means that which is uttered by the living voice, the thing spoken. The word “proceeds” means to go forth, to depart or to flow forth from God’s mouth. In other words, when God’s living words flow forth from His mouth to our hearts—we should live by them! Jesus told us to live by these words.

So how does this work in real life? How can we live smack dab in the center of God's will?

In order to live the life God has ordained for us, we must hear from Him. We must hear His words and follow them. It’s that simple. Man lives by the words that proceed from His mouth. When we do that there is great safety, security, confidence and assurance.

Are you smack dab in the center of God’s will or are you at a crossroad or in need of direction? Do you know the next steps to take? The best thing to do is spend time with the Lord and ask Him for words of direction, wisdom or insight to proceed from His mouth to your heart. Then, when He speaks to you from, or in line with His Word—live by it.

Say It: “Father, thank You for giving me direction from Your Word. I want to live smack dab in the center of Your will and I thank You for the words I need to hear and live by. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
