O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still.
God is always at work in our lives, even when He is silent. We may pray for a situation to change, a person to change or our burdens to be lifted. If those prayers are not answered, then we tell ourselves that either God doesn’t care or He is not listening to us. Neither is true. God does care about all of our prayer requests and He cares about us a great deal. He is also always listening. His silence does not always mean distance from us.
God sees the big picture in our lives. He alone knows what is coming in our future and He alone knows what we need today to get us through to tomorrow. We must trust in God during the times when we hear His voice clearly and when He is silent. The Israelites were slaves for 400 years and cried out to God- He heard them and delivered them. But, God was silent for a reason. He grew a nation so they would be able to take over the land He promised them. It took 400 years to grow that nation. Trust God. He has a plan and His plan will come to fruition. Sometimes our faith grows the most during the silent times.
Help me to see You even during the silent times. God, when I feel like darkness is all around me, I pray I will cry out to You for refuge. I trust in You and in You alone. I choose to trust that You are always here for me and always working on my behalf, even when I cannot see it.
