Sharing in Body

We are partners in the blood and body of Christ.

Partnership is what God has given us as part of our identification with Christ! We are partners in the blood of Christ, and we are partners in the body of Christ. Because we are joined to Jesus Christ, we share in the blood which he shed, and we share in his body, the body of Christ.

I speak as to wise men; you judge what I say. Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ?Since there is one bread, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one bread (1Cor 10:15-17).

For God our identity with Christ is not an intellectual concept but is as real as the blood Jesus shed on the cross. The word for sharing in Greek is literally “partnership.” The purpose of communion is to remind us of this great partnership.

The more we accept and integrate these truths into our emotional lives the more vibrant our lives will be for Christ. We are not slaves, nor second class citizens, but partners. God’s intention was to give his Son to create the partnership of grace.
