Sharing God’s Love

Description

Thirteen year old Isabel says she feels closer to God and eager to seek His direction since she attended a Kids’ Camp in her Guatemalan community.

At every question posed by the camp leaders, Isabel’s hand shoots high up in the air.“I really love to learn, to speak, and to talk,” she says. Today she takes part in deep discussions on self-esteem. It’s a message she wants to share with other kids her community.

They often feel like they’re not an important part of society, but after Isabel and other young people start talking to them, they begin to understand that they’re critical to society. Isabel has seen this in her own life. The youngest of eight children—six boys and two girls—she’s seen communication flourish in her own family since she started attending Kids’ Camps.

Isabel shares the lessons she learned at the Kids’ Camps so her siblings can experience the same empowerment. Isabel and her fellow campers share this empowerment message with other children in their community.

“I think [the Kids’ Camps are] very important because many children in my community, they feel like they’re not important for society,” says Isabel.

Isabel has been sponsored since 2008. She knows that World Vision’s child sponsorship program makes the Kids’ camps possible and that without sponsorship, she wouldn’t have the opportunity to be here.

“Not every child is here today. I was chosen to be here and I want to learn and I want to grow so I can tell everyone how to change so we can have a better future for Guatemala.

Camp participants see Jesus in a new light through eye-opening lessons and relationship-building activities. Hungry to learn and grow, 13-year-old Isabel says the camp experience brought her closer to God and helps her seek His direction in everything. She left camp eager to share with her family and community.

Pray children will encounter Jesus:

“Heavenly Father, thank You for enlivening the hearts of youth as they seek direction and purpose. In the spirit of Matthew 4:19, may youth like Isabel recognize Your power in their life and choose to follow You like the first disciples did.”
