In Chauk, Myanmar, the Buddhist monastery that serves as a community gathering place was devastated by a 6.8-magnitude earthquake on Aug. 24, 2016.

Chauk, in central Myanmar, was the population center nearest the earthquake’s impact on Aug. 24, 2016. Tremors that shook a wide area destroyed dozens of schools and pagodas.
