Shadows Illuminated with the Sword of Discernment

If not for God and His Word, then we might fear the deception of the serpent lying in the shadows. Ask Him for a spirit of discernment.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. —Psalm 119:130 ESV

God is our night-light. He illuminates the shadowy darkness with His brilliance. His Word casts clarity upon situations distorted by mere human understanding.

Without the light of God’s Word, we would all be running around in the dark, afraid of what we cannot see. …Without the insight of God’s Word, it is easy to mistake an enemy for a friend and someone’s past for their future, because the shadow realm distorts our perspective. But when light is brought to a situation, you see what is actually before you.”*

God’s Word judges the heart. He alone is capable of understanding intentions.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  —Hebrews 4:12 ESV

If not for God and His Word, we might fear the deception of the serpent lying in the shadows. Yet God clearly commands us throughout Scripture, “Do not fear.” Instead, pray God gives you a spirit of discernment. Pray His Word illuminates truth in your life. Pray you recognize the deceptive tactics of the enemy immediately. Thank You, Jesus, for unfolding Your Word in our hearts and imparting understanding beyond human comprehension.
