Description

Every Christian has to accept the radical alternative of the cross to be at peace with God, and accept just the Holy Spirit as the means to live for God in this world.

We must not ever forget that the early church had to struggle through an addiction to the law. Converts from Judaism just assumed that the law had to have a place within Christianity. They felt the rules of the law had to be kept. So they even believed that all Christian males should be circumcised. Paul taught that with the coming of the God-Man Jesus, everything has changed. What Christ said and done was so significant that it nullified the law. In fact the law was only a preparation for Christ. He said.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

2 Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you—(Gal 5:1-2).

In the face of the crucifixion of Christ and the sending of the Holy Spirit, a return to the law meant a rejection of the Savior and going back into slavery. Every Christian has to accept the radical alternative of the cross to be at peace with God, and accept just the Holy Spirit as the means to live for God in this world.
