Selfishness vs. Selflessness

Description

Ask God to help you to avoid selfishness and to guide you along the path that He has for you and to be able to serve others.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
  Psalm 139:13-14

THINK

When God created you, He designed you as someone special – an individual with certain talents and abilities that nobody else in the world has. But God did not create us this way for us to sit back and admire ourselves and serve our own personal desires. He wants us to pursue the life that Jesus modeled for us – as a servant, ready to meet needs of others, unselfish and showing love for others.

The battle of selfishness vs. selflessness is a battle we each face every day. And the world is watching to see which side we choose. Which one are you going to choose?

PRAY

Thank God for creating you to be uniquely you. Then ask God to help you to avoid selfishness and to guide you along the path that He has for you and to be able to serve others.

ACT

Look around you for opportunities to serve someone today. It may be just simply offering your time and attention as you try to encourage someone who has been going through a tough time. Or you may realize that something you have can be used as a blessing to someone else whose needs are greater. Choose the side of selflessness today.
