Seeking Fulfillment Instead of Happiness
“The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes” Psalm 19:8.
The quest for happiness can be an exhausting and unfulfilling one, if that’s all we’re after. It sends us on a never-ending search of circumstances that will produce that emotional high for a moment. Unfortunately, it’s not sustainable and ultimately leaves us disappointed. But there is a way to experience an outrageous, contagious, sustainable joy that leads to a fulfilled life. The formula is actually simple:
Jesus + Obedience x Yielding = Fulfillment
While the formula is simple, it does require choices to be made. A choice to invite JESUS into your life; a choice to be OBEDIENT in Seeking, Serving, Sowing and Sharing; a choice to YIELD to God’s will and plan for your life.
These choices will ultimately lead to the fulfilled life that we all seek, a life that is not dependent on instant gratification, but is instead filled with outrageous, contagious, sustainable joy no matter what the circumstance.
Ask God to help you stop the quest for mere happiness and begin to put into practice the Formula for Fulfillment.
Write this formula down and put it in a prominent area so you will be reminded often to make the choices necessary to experience a fulfilled life.
