Winners in Mongolia’s World Vision Cup take a victory lap.

Mongolia is one of 18 countries that organized World Vision Cup soccer tournaments during 2014 for youths ages 16 to 20. After local and regional games, Mongolia’s champions were determined in the final matches in the country’s most prestigious sports complex, Buyant Ukhaa.

Participants also took part in discussions of youth participation, health, and education during a national youth conference. At the end of the conference, proposals and recommendations for youth involvement were presented to government officials. The aim is to see these recommendations included in the Mongolian national youth policy.

At the conference, 11 youths were chosen to attend the global World Vision Cup in Brazil. Selection was based on participation, enthusiasm, and sports talent.

“I am so excited to go to Brazil, it came to me as a total surprise,” says sportsman Baasandorj. E.

“I believe that (attending) this event will help me explore my weaknesses, improve my ability to express my thoughts, learn about other cultures, and exchange ideas,” he says.
