School Book Search and Rescue

Seven-year-old Gian tries to salvage some of his school materials. His family’s home in the Philippines was destroyed by Super Typhoon Haima in October 2016.

Gian stayed at his grandmother’s house when the storm came. His father thought it would be safer.

Despite high winds and thundering rain, they made it safely through the night.

“I didn’t worry much during the typhoon but when I saw our house and my books and my notebooks, all destroyed, I felt sad,” says Gian.

In coordination with the Philippine government, World Vision has distributed hygiene kits, bedding, mosquito nets, and kitchen sets to meet the needs of families like Elena’s.
