Satisfaction in a Job Well Done

Go feel good about yourself! You deserve it!

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.  (Colossians 3:23-24, NIV)

I cleaned out my pantry recently and I felt  SO good about myself! Why is that? It wasn’t a hard job. It didn’t take that long. Yet, I felt like I had accomplished something BIG in my world. How can doing something so small make a person feel so good?

When my children were young, I always had that same feeling of accomplishment when I cleaned out my Tupperware cabinet. Kelsey loved to play with Tupperware. Each night, I would give her a wooden spoon and she would sit and play happily with the Tupperware and her spoon while I cooked dinner. Every once in a while, I would take the time to reorganize my Tupperware cabinet. Instantly, I felt like I had accomplished something amazing.

What in your life gives you that sense of accomplishment? Cleaning out your pantry? Your closet? Your junk drawer? Your car? Whatever it is, go do it! Go clean it out and stand back and look at what you accomplished. I know it is small, but in a mom’s world we rarely get to see a project completely finished.

Ah! That’s it! In a short amount of time, we are able to start AND finish something. That is why we feel so good about ourselves! Brilliant!!! It only took me 21 years to figure that one out! Go feel good about yourself! You deserve it!
