Running the Race and Knowing the Course
“...Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart” Hebrews 12:1-3.
Running a race would be very difficult if you had no idea about the course, where you were heading, or where the finish line was. The rewarding experience for an athlete is to cross that line. Without knowledge of where that is, it would be easy to become tired and discouraged.
What race are you running? Is it a course you have designed or the one that is prepared for you by Jesus? Or are you running a race with no clearly defined path?
Thank God for sending Jesus and for all that He endured so that through His life, death and resurrection we might be saved from the consequences of sin. Fix your eyes on Him and share the joy He experienced along the course He marked out for us.
If today or recently you have taken a decision to follow Jesus, tell others about it. Talk to someone at one of our weekend experiences at any FC location. Go public with that decision by being baptized.
