Roll Away Old Defeat
Description
On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho. And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan (Joshua 4:19-20).
THINK
- Reminders: Every memorial stands as a reminder of something powerful that has happened. In today’s Scripture, Joshua built a reminder of what God had done for the Israelites. But there’s more to this memorial than that.
- Let's Roll! The word “Gilgal” means “to roll away old defeat.” In other words, this is a reminder of the victory God had given. That word picture brings to mind the ultimate memorials—the cross and the empty tomb. God has rolled away your old defeat and given you ultimate victory in Jesus Christ. And now, God says, ‘It’s time to roll into the future!’
PRAY
Thank God for the work He did in constructing the ultimate memorial. Thank Him for rolling away your defeats and giving you victory through Christ!
