Riveted on Him
When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it—GENESIS 28:16.
For me, the journey of obedient faith has, at times, been like a long walk in the same direction—with nobody! It can be very lonely.
Maybe you’re feeling lonely in your faith walk right now. Are you recently divorced and you’ve discovered you’re vulnerable to the self-righteous criticism of others?
Have you decided to go back to work, opening yourself to attacks from friends who feel your place is in the home?
Have you taken a bold stand for the truth of God’s Word, knowing you’ll be accused of being narrow-minded?
God is there beside you as your shield, your hiding place, your stronghold. He understands how it feels to be alone, facing attack.
The Bible tells us when tension surrounds us to “be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Center down on Him. Take a few moments to be quiet. Make a list of at least ten of God’s attributes and focus on them. Then talk to Him about who He is.
God is there with you. And He is a majority of One!
