Relief in Sight

Residents carry away emergency relief supplies World Vision provided in the wake of devastating floods in Chennai, India.

Millions of people in southern India have struggled to recover from extreme rain that soaked and flooded the region during November and December 2015.

Chennai, a city of 4.8 million and the capital of Tamil Nadu state, was hit hard.

World Vision staff in Chennai reported in early December: “Many roads are fully blocked. Groceries and candles running out of stock in the markets. No mobile network, no power, locals helping stranded people on rubber (inner) tubes and makeshift rafts. Cars and bikes submerged.”

World Vision began delivering food and bottled while the flood waters were still rising and will continue to help families recover.
