Refuge in the Shadow
Psalm 36:7 (NIV®)
How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
One of the most startling aspects of Scripture to me is the degree to which people―all people―matter to God. Scripture offers no explanation for it, just states it as fact. Our lives are filled with people, and for the most part we’re pretty indifferent to them. I don’t stop to connect and pray with every stranger who looks troubled. It’s not that I dislike people; I’ve just got my own things to do. But God is not like me. He is moved by people’s every care and concern. It’s hard for me to really comprehend it, but the Creator of the Universe not only knows us by name, He cares about everything that is going on in our lives. And when we are troubled, He wants us to run to Him for comfort.
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me in ways I cannot comprehend and caring about my every concern. Thank You for giving me refuge in the shadow of Your wings. Open my eyes to see all the ways Your love manifests itself in my life, Lord, and give me a grateful heart. May my life bring glory to Jesus Christ. In His name I pray, amen.
