Receive His Blessing in Every Situation
“Though he slay me, yet will I trust him.” Job 13:15
Lindsay is a very special young lady to me. I have known her since she was just a little girl coming to my house for music lessons. As she has grown up, I have had the privilege of being a part of her life and nurturing her relationship with Jesus.
Several years ago, Lindsay was diagnosed with a rare disease called idiopathic chondrolysis. She spent several months in a wheelchair, but through God’s answer to much prayer, the disease went into remission and she was able to walk again. Though she deals with pain in her joints, her high-school years have been relatively normal and full of activity.
Just this past week, she had a scare, however. It seemed the disease was flaring up again, and Lindsay spent a few days in bed. Her mom made an appointment at Children’s Hospital with the doctor who supervises her care. I was committed to praying for Lindsay that day and checked her Facebook page for updates. As she headed to the hospital, she wrote this status on her wall:
Off to Children’s Hospital—so ready to find out what is going on! God has granted me one miracle and I pray He has another one in store. I trust we will get good news! But, whatever news the doctor has for me I am determined to receive as a blessing, believing Jesus knows best and He is in control of my life.
Later that night, I found out that the news was good, and I rejoiced with Lindsay and her family. However, it is that original post that stays with me even now, challenging and inspiring me to greater heights with my Savior. I want a heart like that—a heart that stands ready to receive whatever He gives, trusting His goodness and sovereignty, resting in the promise of His blessing.
FAITH STEP: Jesus, I trust you with__________and receive Your blessing. I believe You know best and You are in control of everything.
